Florida declares a winner: Bush Oh goody, that means it all over, right? Yeah, in a pigs eye…. Jesus Christ in hair curlers! Why didn’t they recount the entire state, by hand, using the same dimple/chat standard? Can the Secretary of State in Florida be that stupid not to see this, or didn’t she have a choice? Doesn’t she know that Gore is about to fling about 5 million in legal fire at them?

  • Time for a new poll.

Time for a new poll. I have resisted the urge to run polls through the course of the election as a matter of personal policy. I am not really interested in straw polls for political purposes. In fact, really I hate them. The outcome always seems to be very disturbing and frankly unbelieveable. Not to mention the fact that many internet political literates are late-twenty-something dittohead male republicans. That has a tendancy to sway things a bit. That’s not a good thing, or a bad thing, just a fact. However, I think that is another thread. This is internal stuff, not political. On that note, please vote:

  • MTV News Online, UGO News

MTV News Online, UGO News Networks, and several more sites are reporting the emegence of a band called Fozzy. Claiming that they have been in a contractual exile in Japan for the last 20 years, they’ve returned to the States to triumphantly reclaim their place in heavy metal Valhalla. Also claiming that most of their music has been ripped off by the likes of Motley Crue, Ozzy, The Scorpions, Dio, and many more… Well, they are telling their side of the story at 8pm (EST) on MTV in the form of a documentary.

Actually, Fozzy appears to be composed of members of the WWF. Fronted by Mongoose McQueen (AKA, Chris Jericho of the WWF), who are undertaking a brilliant publicity stunt and evidently covering the bands and songs that they’ve loved for years. In an ingenius, Spinal Tap-like stunt, they get to make music, sell the WWF, and maybe even make a dollar or two from legions of WWF and Heavy Metal fanatics. Who knows, maybe they’ll bring back metal music genre again? Nah…

  • Yesterdayland’s section about video games

Yesterdayland’s section about video games is a great guide. Not aimed at the arcade game enthusiast, but provides some great synopsis of the last 35 years of videogaming. What’s more, there are areas to discuss each game, as well as provide your personal memories. Overall, yesterdayland is kind of cool. There are other genres of nostalgic pop culture icons of western society to view, music, cartoons, toys, movies, and more. Well worth a look, thanks to Terry Blancett for sending it along. (thanks Dan, your comments are what makes this place a hoot to read)

  • I’ve never been to a

I’ve never been to a chiropractor but, I’ve had my share of back trouble as everyone who knows me can testify. I do have an ostiopathic doctor that believes in “spinal integrity” as most do. Despite that, I’ve never let him, or anyone else crack me.

Once, while I was still in the Army. I was about a year our of rehab/physical therapy from a back injury when a civilian doctor/quack grabbed me and tried to crack me without warning, or checking my records. He set my therapy and convalescence back to day one when he shredded some manner of ligaments, or sinew back there… since then, I’ve never let anyone touch me.

    Beware of Chiropractors!!!!!!

If anyone out there is receiving chiropractic treatments please take note. I had been receiving chiropractic treatments from a Dr I?ll call Dr.A. about twice a week for the past year. These visits consisted of the Danny Aiello type pelvic rotating body slam and a neck twist like my head was a big catsup bottle cap. About 2 months ago I developed a pain like an ice pick being jammed into my right buttock.

When I complained of this pain I was told I had a swollen disc. When I asked why all of a sudden do I have this I was told I?m sitting too much and I?m getting older. I let him try to fix that for a week or two the thought I would try another chiropractor. This new Dr. was refereed by a dear friend who had also seen Dr. A. The new chiropractor I?ll call Dr. B said that Dr. A was barbaric with all of the body slams and that my dear friend could barely walk from his visits to Dr. A.I was on the same road and he assured me that he would not be so intrusive. Dr. B had a sensor device hooked up to an IMAC that measured the tension between my vertebrae and would only adjust the out of place areas. Instead of the body slams Dr. B used a device that looked like a hand held screw driver with 2 prongs that delivered 20 vibrations a second like a hand held jackhammer to the areas between the out of place vertebrae. He also did something else I had never had done to me. He said based on my X-rays that my neck was out of alignment from an accident I might have had say 30 years ago. He proceeded to slam my neck down into the table. When I stood up I was standing straighter than I had ever stood in my entire life. Dr. B surprised me when he said see ya next month. I was used to Dr. A having me come twice a week. Dr. B said if you start feeling bad come sooner. I lasted about 2 weeks. When I went back Dr. B said my neck and lumbar area were great he used the jackhammer device on the lower area which seemed to help and sent me on my way. Two days later I sneezed. Bad thing to happen. I was in such pain this morning my wife got me in to see the orthopedic surgeon who helped her after an auto accident a year ago. He X-rayed me and said I had a ruptured disc and a pinched nerve. He ordered 6 weeks physical therapy 3 times a week with a 70% chance of complete recovery without surgery. He also said NO CHIROPRACTORS for now.

I like Dr. B with his jackhammer device and may go to him again in a few months when the physical therapy is complete. You would have to hold a gun to my head to see Dr. A again. The moral of the story is if you see a chiropractor who turns you on your side and body slams you run, walk or limp away as fast as you can. Find one that uses the sonar and jackhammer system or an orthopedic surgeon who avoids surgery and tries physical therapy first.

    “When will it ever end!

I won the Florida lottery! I’m now a multimillionaire! Can you believe it?!? I’m bouncing off the walls here! You see, my ticket doesn’t have the exact winning numbers on it, but I meant to pick those winning numbers. The ticket is very confusing when I was filling it out and so I ended up with the wrong numbers on my card. But since I really meant to pick those other numbers, they’re going to give me the money anyway!!!! They really shouldn’t make those darn cards so hard to fill out!!! And even though I was confused, I didn’t ask for help because no one would have helped me anyway. If the Florida State Lottery won’t give me the money, I’ll just sue them!!!”

    From my Dad #2

“Well, it had to happen sooner or later:

The State of Florida has given notice that it is holding the Presidency of the United States hostage. Until the rest of the country agrees to our terms, there will be no official count and Bill Clinton will remain president. Here are our terms:

    1. No more snow birds. Stay up north. Just send your money down. We have established a secure web site where you can deposit your vacation budgets conveniently.

    2. No more referring to the mosquito as the Florida State bird.

    3. New York State will quit trying to annex Miami. It now officially belongs to Cuba.

    4. The Federal Securities and Exchange Commission will authorize a stock exchange that exists solely for the purpose of trading stocks in companies who manage time share sales.

    5. Out-of-state friends and relatives of Florida residents will establish a trust fund for the reimbursement of Floridians every time you show up expecting free room and board in our homes. Florida residents within a 50 mile radius of Disney World have unlimited draw on this trust fund.

    6. All the other 49 states will conduct annual citrus festivals.

    7. The NFL will declare the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the undisputed winner of the Super Bowl for the next five years.

    8. All future national presidential conventions will be held on the track at the Daytona Speedway. The winners will be decided in a 100 lap race where the candidates drive golf carts.

    9. Bike Week will become Bike Year to overlap with inter-Spring-Summer-Fall Break. Only Harleys will be admitted to the former and starlets with Baywatch credentials to the latter.

    10. The Surgeon General will declare orange juice as the national natural substitute for aspirin, Rogaine, Prozac, and Viagra.”

Broward, Miami-Dade, Volusia and Palm Beach Counties are expected to report late, with a note from their moms to the stunningly brilliant Florida Secretary of State. There are an estimated 600,000 votes to count in these counties, plus thousands of absentee ballots arriving Friday? Anyone know these numbers?

Can this be any more interesting? I think I like watching this better than COPS.

  • New York Times: Mentally Retarded

New York Times: Mentally Retarded Man Facing Texas Execution Draws Wide Attention (via metafilter) Actually, it more like world wide attention. Go ahead and read the links, I’ll wait right here…

You know, I really kind of hate the idea of this country allowing someone like that to slip through the cracks so as to harm other members of society. This points more towards issues of mental heath care and the Department of Social Services in Texas, inability to manage heath risks such as this. I won’t even insert Bush bashing here, though I really could. I really believe that this person should have been under the proper care and supervision in the first place. Why? because… people like this are our problem, our liabilty, and our responsibility. We owe it to them not to allow them to harm any other member of society and we owe it to society not to allow people like him to harm them. This type of system is not free! It’s going to cost a lot of money, but it probably would have cost less to manage this man all of his natural life, then it would to maintain his physical and legal expenses on death row for 20 years. Further, this problem will never take care of itself. Now, the world is without one very prominent and promising young white woman and (soon) one very retarded man.

I cannot tolerate the fact that we are allowing the government to murder members of society. I do not trust the political, judicial, or any other entity established by our government not to personalize an issue such as this. Hence, this is the real key to the debate on the death penalty. Personalization. No one, in my opinion, can prevent themselves from personalizing decisions made that determine the nature of a punishment as final as the death penalty.

I’ve never heard a death penalty argument (either pro, or con) that is strictly empirical and impersonal. They always start, or end with: “If your (insert relative here) was (insert henous crime here), what would you want done?” Good god, has anyone thought that that is exactly what jurors are doing? Doesn’t anyone else realize that capitol cases are what help advance the prosecutors political careers via the extended publicity? Does anyone else realize that very rich and powerful law firms donate legal talent to defend capitol criminals because of the great publicity? Isn’t anyone else uncomfortable with construct that we have given our government the power to determine the life and death of it’s citizens? Finally, what system other than appeals, have we established to make sure that an innocent person isn’t put to death? How about this for personalization: If I was an innocent man standing accused of a capitol crime, facing death… my life in the hands of lawyers and career politicians, I would try and find a way to take my own life. Unfortunately for this man, he doesn’t have that as an option… he’s far to retarded to even understand what he’s facing.

paxtonland changes: I’ve made a few small changes to paxtonland. As you can see, I’ve done a few visual modifications, changed things here and there. I’ve also added a headline stream from moreover.com so that we can grab a fresh story now and then. This will make the page load slower as it formulates the links and headlines. But, to compensate for that, I’m only displaying 15 days worth of comments and have removed many bandwidth consuming bits of code. Also notice that when you post, hitting the return key will add a line break, hitting it twice will add a line space.

I’m working on a comments system right now, I’d like to get paxtonland away from flat single posts that don’t help readability much. I’m testing several slashdot-like comment systems as we speak. I’m testing them on another server, when they area ready and working. We’ll have a better forum for discussion than paxtonland is in it’s current state. Which has really become a weblog-diary-catchall for things I have been writing for years. Long time visitors of this site will remember many many static, seldom updated pages that were reflective of the tools and techniques that I’d learn to date. Now, I’m more inclined to rely on the developments of others and impliment their good work. Rather than figure everything out for myself. Hence, the use of blogger. It was intended as an experiment, but has become part of the site.

I don’t think I’d like to change the style, just the method that thoughts get to this page. I’m open to suggestions as well.

  • Well a recount has

Well a recount has confirmed that Bush has won the ballots cast on Tuesday. The ones from overseas will probably favor Bush ( they favored Dole last time who seemed to not be as popular as Bush ) If this happens, Al Gore has to quit acting like a spoiled brat and sore loser. There is double punched and confusing ballots from coast to coast. Deal with it. If one couldn’t figure out how to use that ballot in Palm Beach, you have no business voting anyway. I can’t believe anyone that stupid could even find the polls. Where was the uproar before the election? The constitution calls for an election on election day.
It doesn’t surprise me that once again the liberals are using the court system to make policy and short-circuit the law and the will of the people. But you can’t blame them. If the lying, stinking, criminal liberals were to tell you what they really wanted to do they could never get elected. We’ll raise your taxes. We’ll confiscate all your guns. You have less say in your kids education than we do. You really want our poverty program for the retired called social security ( and you’ll pay through the nose for it ) ( the little people aren’t smart enough to invest themselves ) The family farm doesn’t belong to the family when the grandparents go…

Is it a coincinence that there is extra money ( and it is ours, not the governments ) in Washington after the GOP had congress for the first time in forty years. Democrats had borrowed $1.36 for every dollar in tax revenue since 1969. That is why, when Reagan brought more money through the treasury ( through tax cuts, which got people spending again and new tax money replaced the lost revenues ) the deficeit went up so drastically in the 80’s. Don’t blame reagan. By the way, we still wait for the spending cuts the congress promised him and Bill Clinton only has about 60 days to give me that “middle class tax cut”

  • a). BBC News | AMERICAS

a). BBC News | AMERICAS | Analysis: Instability threatens<- The BBC is telling the world that the pillar of democracy is collapsing. What a load of shit. The republicans have been most guilty of spreading this sort of fear in the past few hours.

b). The GOP statement about the Fiasco in Florida: “Throughout this process, it’s important that no party to this election act in a precipitous manner or distort an existing voting pattern in an effort to misinform the public.” Well, what in blue blazes have they been doing for the last 18 months?!? Positioning the Village Idiot of Texas as a viable presidential candidate? Hells bells…

c). If this awful stuff is happening in Florida, just what can your imagination tell you happened in every other state in the country. Probably much, much worse. This is precisely why we need internet voting. Zero margin for error. Why worry about people not having access to the internet? Less than half of all registered voters voted anyway.

d). Buchanan can say whatever he wants… It really suits him to be the good guy and say Gore won those votes. It’s all PR anyway, he could say that the tooth fairy won, he looks good and got more exposure than the last 18 months of campaigning.

e). Finally, could the Technophobic Baby Boomer Loosers please stop trading on NASDAQ? You are ruining great companies with your wild knee jerk speculations… you don’t understand technology, you don’t use it, you don’t like it. Stop trying to profit from it. The election has NOTHING to do with tech stocks taking a nose dive, stop saying it!! Can we pass a law, or something? C’mon people!
