How X Rates With ‘W’ “It’s a sure bet Washington will be paying close attention to the results. Republicans have pledged that the Justice Department will pounce on “obscene” websites should George W. Bush gain the presidency. Bush himself has railed against offensive content online, and he has endorsed library and school filtering.” Uh-oh. To think that I thought Gore was going to be tough on this issue. After all, he is the one with the “socialist” mentality. Wanting to keep this hideous tripe off of his beautiful internet. Looks like Dubbya just stumbled upon hustler.com and found himself listed as “The Asshole of the Month.”

The U.K. welcomes Gee Dubbya (via metafilter) and have fun with the Guess the evil dictator, or sit-com character game and for a big downer, women gets 5 years for killing baby in microwave how lame is that? Five years? More than that, who in their right mind would breed with a woman that fucked up? At last Eminem faces jail time, eventually, maybe, someday… Anyway it looks like he going to reconcile with his wife, who’s extramarital exploits started this whole thing.

Quote from Dan’s Link: “Beneath their flowing robes, the majority justices are all political professionals chosen by conservative Republican presidents because they believed they could be trusted to do the ?right? thing.” – isn’t it ironic that Gee Dubbya will now probably appoint 4 more of these nincompoops in the next 4 years? Let’s just hope for another Clarence Thomas debacle. I can’t wait to see what impresses Gee Dubbya.

As for the identity of the looser (see earlier post)… yeah. It’s a safe bet that all judicial benches are slightly less polished and respected today. I say, pox on all career lawyers, let’s make sure internet voting gets implemented and take _all_ judges off the bench. We could then have shouldwehangemornot.com, or isheguiltyornot.com and let the people decide. Just like amihotornot.com votes on good looks.

This is the guy’s house across the street. He has a snowblower.
This guy has a blade. You can’t really tell but, he’s stuck!
This is the van, the pile of show is almost 6 feet there.
This is my car, it was buried in about 4 feet of snow.
Check the snow on the on the overhang there…
This lady is walking where the snowmobiles left tracks
Same truck, unstuck, pushing what looks like a small mountain
    Looks like an alpine village
We are at the bottom of a hill, no one got up it at all today.

The plows have not come by as of yet. I can’t get my cars out of the driveway. We had a total of 20 inches here in our little area (yes I went around taking measurements). I also had to get up on the roof and shovel snow from the addition, otherwise it would have leaked really bad. The kids school is closed tomorrow as well, and guess what? They are expecting another 6 inches over night… woooo!

  • GM To Phase Out Oldsmobile

GM To Phase Out Oldsmobile “Oldsmobile’s current models will continue to be produced and sold until the end of their current product life cycles or as long as they remain economically viable.” The last new Olds slated is the 2002 Bravada. This is going to be a common trend in the next 20 years. A slick way to cut back. It’s not that people don’t buy the Olds brand, it’s a great way to reduce work forces and put facilities that are redundant. GM (and a lot of other auto makers) are trying to move to the Saturn model of production and sales. Eventually GM will move every brand in this direction. If is does or doesn’t, you can bet it’s not going to be a marketing decision. Anyway, believe it or not, there are probably some sad people in GM today, they are very proud of that 1897 date. Despite claims otherwise by Ford, Olds was the first production assembly line in 1901. Lots of history indeed check it out.

  • Clinton: Pot Smoking Should Not

Clinton: Pot Smoking Should Not Be Prison Offense. Good god, why the hell didn’t he speak up 8 years ago? Can you imagine the number of people sitting in jail, no prison… incarcerated for possessing an ounce of pot? Some won’t get out until the next president is out of office. I hope that the next president has balls enough to take action on issues that he believes in. Not whispering his “feelings” at the 11th hour of his presidency while cowering in fear of the almighty approval rating. Where is Teddy Rosevelt when we need him? I wonder if he gave a flying cross-eyed fuck what anyone though of him, or his beliefs?

  • ActiveState’s Visual Perl has hit

ActiveState’s Visual Perl has hit beta. I don’t know if many of you (mostly Rich, Mike and Melissa) have followed my pontifications about Micro$soft’s .NET for the past few months, but it’s starting to become reality. Also available will be Visual Python for the .NET framework (available in beta as an SDK now). These products are “drop-ins” for Visual Studio 7 and may well open PERL and Python to a much larger developer community that has traditionally used MS C++ and MS Visual Basic. Or, they could alienate the entire non-corporate developers community who will go out searching for “free” alternatives. It will be very interesting to see how this develops. Stay tuned.

  • SciFi channel “Dune” miniseries scores

SciFi channel “Dune” miniseries scores good ratings. Evidently highest miniseries ratings yet for the channel. Personally, I liked the series, but I found some scenes highly overacted and a bit trite and campy. For example, when the Guild Highliner representatives spoke… sheesh. What a joke. Also, the Fremen were a bit too mystical and superstitious. Some of the special effects were not all that great, but for a T.V. miniseries… they really were not bad. All in all, I give it a 4. I’d like to see DVD version with the original scense cut out…. commercial free. By my count, I have 4:12 of movie.

But, before you judge the series, you should read the book. In fact, read this post on slashdot, it sums a lot of this up well.

The SCIFI channel is airing the Dune miniseries begining at 9 pm (EST) Sunday night. I can’t wait. I loved the series, I’ve probably read the book 5 times. Providing me with countless hours of delicious escapism, I truly revel in the thought of a long treatment of this wonderful book.

I’m flying out to Salt Lake City, Utah today. My company is having it’s annual business meeting there. I’ll be there until Saturday afternoon. So, I’ll be slow in responding to e-mails. I’ll be giving about 2 hours worth of presentations and discussons there. We’ll be staying at Daniels Summit, an aparently beautifully rustic, quite nicely appointed lodge/resort. Wish me luck, back in the traveling mix again… oh boy.

A lot of sites are linking to the recipe for Turducken. A somewhat revolting, yet somehow interesting main course that calls for stuffing a turkey with a duck, that’s been stuffed with a chicken. Either a terrific accomplishment, or a testament to the fact that Americans are the vilest form of consumers in human history.

Actually, there have been worse examples consumption. Human beings have eaten all manner of disgusting preparations, for example why not try whole stuffed camel. In fact, if you’d let your imagination run wild and you’ll find a recipe for it, I’m sure…
