The Ig Nobel Award Winners were announced today. From the Annals of Improbable Research (AIR). The awards recognize research that “cannot or should not be reproduced.” Here’s some examples:
Category Unknown – Awarded to the creators of UnderEZ, an undergarment created to “eliminate the foul odor caused by flatulence.”
Astrophysics – Awarded to Jack Van Impe for determining that Black Holes fulfill all the technical requirements for Hell.
Technology – Awarded to the person who applied for and received an Australian patent for the wheel in 2001.
Public Heath – Awarded to a NIMH scientist for determining that nose picking is a common activity in adolescents.
