Sulfnbk.exe virus hoax – If you receive, or have received the message:
Virus SULFNBK.EXE
Instructions to find and delete it.
1. Start and got to Find Files. Type the name: SULFNBK.EXE
2. If it is there, open Windows Explorer, look for the file where you found it, and then delete. Don’t left click and don’t open it even if there is a fire, o.k.?
3. Just delete it.
4. Mine was in Windows/Command.
5. The person wh passed this warning to me found it in Windows/Config.

Recently there has been widespread warning of a virus in a Windows file known as “sulfnbk.exe” which is rumored to selfactivate on June 01, 2001. The warning advises immediate deletion of the sulfnbk.exe file. THIS IS A HOAX. DO NOT DELETE THE FILE. The file is present in Windows 95 and later and helps windows recreate long filenames if they get corrupted. Although this is not a vital system file and your computer will not die without it, very soon the absence of this file will cause you an immense headache.
If you have already deleted the file, the easiest way to reinstall it is to insert your Windows installation CD, and run System File Checker. To do this, click “Start” then “Run” and type: “C:Windowssystemsfc.exe.” Type the name of the file (sulfnbk.exe) in the box for extracting files and it will restore the file for you.
