• I’ve been searching for a replacement for the typical I.M. (instant messenger) client. By that I mean programs like; ICQ, AIM, Yahoo’s thingy, and Hotmail/MSN’s thingy. So far, I’ve only come up with a couple, Boomerang SST and Jabber. Boomerang SST has a lot of features such as chat, messaging, and file transfer. Plus, it operates under automatic RSA encryption. This may not mean much to some, but for others it’s good news. Jabber looks promising. It’s open source, works on multiple O/S’s, and has transports for all of those other I.M. programs I mentioned. Keep you eye on this one. I’ll keep looking and let me know if you find one out there as well. Why? You ask. Well… it’s simple, ICQ sucks. It sucks less than the others, but all in all its really becoming a nightmare from a usability standpoint. Just look at all of these horrible buttons! (via Metafilter). Oh well, looks like we’re stuck with ICQ for a while longer.
