For our Tampa area readers: Police using video cameras in Ybor City to identify people with outstanding warrants. Note that they aren’t just sitting around looking at the camera feeds from a console. A company called Visionics has integrated the signals with an active database of over 100 million individual images. With little computing power, a decent desktop PC can make 47,000,000 rough matches per minute, alerting a human being to have a closer look. Once a match is verified, they pick the “perp” up.
Evidently, the video system has been in place for a couple of years on 7th. Avenue. However, just this week they have been integrated with the database and the automated search and match technology. I also understand that the area of Ybor City has undergone a huge transformation in the last 12 months. Previously, because of party goers and hell bent rowdies the police treated Ybor City much the same as they treat the north end of Flint. A war zone.
So spread the word to the other Tampons that if they have a bench warrant, are in current violation of a parole obligation, or are wanted by the police for any reason… stay away from Ybor city. The odds have just improved a thousand fold that they will be picked up. Perhaps you should investigate one of the several high tech options that you have at your disposal to disable them.
