Hours after Attorney General John Ashcroft recused himself Thursday from the Justice Department’s criminal investigation of Enron Corp., the entire U.S. attorney’s office in Houston, Texas, stepped down from the same probe, citing the same reason: appearance of a conflict of interest.
This thing is getting uglier by the minute. I feel that it’s no suprise that the administration and it’s appointees are knee deep in this. In fact, I’d expect it. However, this is evidence that one party is indeed no better than the other. Whitewater, Enron… really, what is the difference?
