Try XML Spy v3.0 via softwareblast.com. Of course, I wouldn’t tell you there there is also a crack available for this. That’s not the kind of thing we do around here. This is not the end-all-be-all evironment for learning XML. But, it will give you a place to start with a nice set of help files.

Other places are almost far too numerous to mention, it’s best to hit Google with the keyword. That’s going to give you a list of reading that will take you weeks to get through.

  • Thank you for sharing your

Thank you for sharing your XML source code Joe! I’ve saved it to take a looksee later.

I’ve put off XML and XHTML for a while – there just isn’t enough of a reason for me to go about learning it yet. Still, it’s good to keep current.

  • Now I’ve gone and done

Now I’ve gone and done it. I redesigned the remake of the “new” homepage in XML from the XHTML that it was. My first official XML Page complete with an XSL Stylesheet. I still have to make up my own Schema but for the time being I fell back on MS’s default schema. The W3C is considering DTD’s as “primative”…….

  • Mozilla 16 has a head

Mozilla 16 has a head start on MS I.E. regarding XML. Yet as long as you have a good .xsl file (stylesheet) with an HTML template that can have a CSS embeded (or not) you’re all set. You can view XML sites with MS I.E 4.0.
There really isn’t much out there but I found this as a good starting point What is XML? I’ve already download the XML notepad. It’s pretty damn good though it is beta 1.5. Works just fine for producing well-formed XHTML as well.
The project cool Behaviors for IE5 is interesting. The publishing goodies are very nice. The Footnotes effect will make long boring technical documents a little easier.

  • I’m sure glad the kid

I’m sure glad the kid finally got to go home. Leave it to our courts to totally screw up families. When are we going to learn, no mom… then kid goes to dad. Mom is an incompetent asshole, kids go to dad. Mom decides she don’t wanna play mommy no more, kids go to dad. Simple, that’s all there is to it.

It’s not just elian and his family. This crap is going on in courts every day. Mom leaves, dies, decides to not be a mother. The dad has to go and fight. What kind of piece of shit construct is that?. Is this Clinton’s vision of family values? Is Hillary going to propagate this evil further? It even gets worse when mom decides she wants play mommy again, returns from prison, her lover, or whatever and dad has to fight *again* to keep his kids.

Oh, ain’t family law in this country grand? And to think, we tried to apply those fucked up values, principals, and even laws to that family? Who aren’t even citizens? Wow, fathers rights just don’t exist. Will they ever? I hold slim hope…

Hahahahah! Wonderful! Well, speaking of strange coincidence, I submit for you this and this. Talk about conspiracy?!? Not coincidence, or strange if you ask me.

  • The Register has an article

The Register has an article describing how Oracle hired thugs to prove that Micro$oft did indeed back/finance users groups, watchdog groups, and others. That’s all fine and good, too bad they got caught. Shame!

  • Thanks to Rich who points

Thanks to Rich who points out to us that for Netscape users, pressing the “What’s Related” button produces a list that includes the Krispy Kreme website. Paxtonland achieves yet another milestone in credibility. Thanks again, Rich.

  • Oh yeah, also… isn’t it

Oh yeah, also… isn’t it odd that some of our best movies are being directed by Opie, Laverne, and Meathead? Whoodathunkit?

  • I’ve got to make a

I’ve got to make a list of programs to burn onto a CD. I’m tired of downloading this stuff over and over again. I used to say “Why store stuff on my hard drive when I have the whole internet to store stuff on” But, I’ve since revoked that credo since I’ve got a CD ROM burner at home and a work. I guess it’s time to start using them to burn stuff besides bootleg MP3 CD’s.

  • Marshall Rose is working on

Marshall Rose is working on a betwork protocol to replace HTTP called BXXP. This is not news to some, as it’s been known for a while that they were doing this. This is the guys who wrote POP3, SNMP, and HTTP. It seems as though things are getting back to networking basics again. A packet of data, an identifying container (which can be XML), and that’s it. Cool. More can be found here at xml.resource.org. Dust off Editpad guys! (Found on /.)

  • The Genesee Area Freenet (GFN)

The Genesee Area Freenet (GFN) redesign looks great. Thanks goes to Scott and the rest at TUCOWS for getting this done so quickly and professionally. Cool.

  • It really looks to me

It really looks to me as if Microsoft and AOL are about to get into a major pissing contest over your computer, internet connection, and applications. Even PDA’s, set-top boxes, and other “internet appliances” are going to be subject to this “battle.” With Microsoft’s .Net and AOL’s networks, plus the browser platforms and applications… wow. Get ready folks, the next round in “Microsoft vs. Planet Earth” is about to start.

Yahoo! Selects Google as its Default Search Engine Provider: Google kicks ass! I’ve not used any other search engine for months.

  • I’m running Mozilla M16? I

I’m running Mozilla M16? I forget, whatever the latest release is. I think that it’s still pretty rough. In fact, it’s still very, very rough. But, the brightest points about the thing are still yet to be seen. As for Netscape, I also have the latest beta. As near as I can tell, all of the CSS stuff, all of the DHTML stuff, as well as stuff I can’t yet determine will be affected. The good news about this is at least the CSS implementation is compliant with the W3C standard and not a quirky and proprietary AOL/Micro$soft interpretation.

If you do download Mozilla (link) then do take my advise and grab the “chrome/skin” from Alphanumerica.com… to me, Mozilla is just plain ugly. The skins will at least brighten things up a bit. Also while you are there, check out the various mozilla projects they have going. For more projects that stem from mozilla as a platform, or if you don’t know what the hell all of this mozilla stuff is about, go to Mozilla at a glance for a clearer understanding of this madness.

  • Welcome Ed, welcome Michael! Wonderful

Welcome Ed, welcome Michael! Wonderful to have you both… Remember that you can use the “tell dean” button to post here instead of having to log all the way into blogger.com. Soon, I’ll not have to rely upon them for this.

  • well, this is pretty slick.

    well, this is pretty slick.

  • I’m catching up on my

I’m catching up on my e-mails now. For those of you who are awaiting a reply from me about something, the wait is almost over! Whooo!

I’m finally getting the time also to catch up on the things that have stacked up on me for the last few weeks. Among which is fulfilling an artilcle proposal that I’ve submitted to Webreference.com. For the next week, I’ll be saturating myself with the merits and idiosyncracies of boxed, e-commerce/web transaction, server based products. Another, Whoooo! Maybe after a while, I’ll actually start getting paid for this crap I generate.

The weekend is over, yay! Back to the grind. Anyone taking time off over the 4th. weekend?

  • Guitar Player Online

Guitar Player Online has a first for me. A flash banner ad that sucks you into the advertisers site if you simply move your mouse over it. Yuck, c’mon guys… you should know that dirty tricks just piss people off.

Microsoft introduces C#? Whatever… I suppose it’ll be optimized for the “dotnet” that will revolutionize the earth…

  • ITEC is over

ITEC is over, my feet hurt.

  • I eliminated the mouse trails

I eliminated the “mouse trails”. I didn’t write that script and couldn’t get it to validate. I went for an XML strict validation for the new Belleville Online homepage. Now I will continue to make the whole "new" site in compliance with strict XML 1.0 specs.
Which brings me back to notepad. All tags must be in lower case for XML. According to the W3C, basically all editors write non-conforming tags for XML. Chalk one up for notepad…
