Dean, I came across this the other day. Remember that I don’t have access to Access or any other DB? I have been thinking of doing this, what do you think? It’s called SQL Fun. SQL Fun I also followed the link to Trevor Lees’ home page for the detailed instructions. Instructions I’d like your opinion as to whether or not I should do this. Thanks…..Joe

Glen Davis’ Project Cool
Glen Davis was the spearhead of Project Cool. He resigned from the effort about 2 months ago. So, I’m not sure that the site will continue it’s current quality without him. I think that remains to be seen.

Oh, I see it (Blogger)
Oh, I see it (Blogger) installs the post as a blockquote. Cool. Speaking of cool, I do like to hang out at Project Cool. I did see that you’ve been there too Dean. I like their color picking page. Choosing A Color It takes allot of the guess work out.
Have a great day…. -
Joe, you did okay, but
Joe, you did okay, but my tags ruled out yours.. .haha. As for the “edit” button. When you are at the blogger entry page. You can edit your posts, but if you are at the main page (where everyone sees them) you can’t edit them. With that “edit” button, you can go in and fix your stuff…
-
Note On Tags
You don’t have to include the “header, style, or html tags. But, everything else is okay.

Misc. II
Sorry Dean, I changed all of the links with my last post. It was all HTML. I clicked on the “view web page” and it was not kind. Looks like the “edit” is still there too. Since all of the links were changed (and after looking at the “web page”), I take it that the head, title, and body tags are not necessary? The post came out nice and centered and the event takes place with the link though. I through the page up on my server. It’s here Here it is.

Misc
Okay, I thought I’d see what is possible here. I’ve got a question regarding tags. Do the editors capitalize the tags? It seems like every page source that I’ve viewed that was made with an editor has the tags in caps. Is that the default for editors? I’ve read that with XML all tags have to be in lower case. Is that right? Personally I write all tags in lower case anyway. HTML 2.0, 3.2 and 4.0 is so forgiving.
Follow this link for a very interesting site I came across some time ago. It contains a ton of information regarding Java, C++ and on and on. Just follow the links when you get there. Codepage 2.3
Night all…….Before I forget, why did my first “post” have “edit” at the end? I posted it by pressing Ctrl + Shift + s, is that right?

XHTML
Probably XHTML to stop confusing the poor business types who can’t keep track of all the new stuff. All they really need to know is that XML is extensible and HTML isn’t sortof

paxtonland Update
Oh yeah, one more note: You can use HTML in your posts. If you’d like to post a link, make it clickable! Make tables, change colors, link to images, whatever you’d like. Just don’t get crazy with the javascript. But hey, if you do… I’ll fix it. If you need help getting started with HTML check out getting started!

Blogger
Blogger is the best way for me to get my friends a method to post comments and links to this site. There are about 30 invites out. I’ll tell you, this is something of an experiment, Pyra is really built as a web based project management application. It’s code is propreitary and it’s gotten a HUGE following among the “digerati.” For my purposes here and everyone else, it provides a nice way to contribute to my personal place on the net. Hopefully, we’ll gather a nice community together. By that time, I can move on to another application and host that will give us more options than Blogger does. Thanks for joining in the discussions!

FrontPage? Notepad!
Hey Dean, thanks for the invite. I’ve been reading the posts and loving it.
Dean you already know how I feel about FrontPage. Q? for LH. Do you really think FrontPage is easiest
to use for beginners? I found Note Pad and raw code the easiest way to learn. Tried FrontPage once and said BAH!
I tried to climb inside the box and strangle the “BOT”! Dean, I’ll be taking a look at Dreamweaver.Okay, the W3C is going with XHTML instead of calling it XML. Is it a compromise? Or are they losing their influence?
Here’s one for you. I had a “recruiter” send me mail the other day. Sure enough it had the KAK.HTA worm. I promptly snuffed it out
and called to let them know they were infected. I proceeded to tell them that it was a macro worm that attached to their Outlook Express signature. I even told them where it would be residing..i.e. windows|start|menu|programs|startup|kak.hta, and all I heard on the other end of the phone was…huh? Not a single person in the office understood what I was talking about. Needless to say, I haven’t heard Boo from them since.Off to study……..later

I Guess
M. here – I guess I’m learning also, but then… what the heck! Hi anyways…
Happen to be in New York This afternoon, writing this, Monday, Chicago – but I
can manage!
P.S. Saw a post regarding the fingerprint technology (negative). There is new stuff
that will be capable with Windows 2000 – Authentication Certificates stored on “Smart Cards”.
I’ll be learning about that technology soon.
Tata for now! -
Firetalk Communications
Firetalk Communications, Inc. – Free internet telephone, unlimited conference calling, voice chat on any website. Thanks to Dan for pointing me to this bit of web coolness. Looks even better than Dialpad.com I’m going to give it a try and let you know how it goes.

FrontPage Is Maturing
Well, I think that it’s gotten a lot better. It’s also very, very good at cranking out sites fast.

FrontPage, The Barney of Web Tools
I have no idea what this is, Dean. But thanks for the invite.
As for the Dreamweaver vs. FrontPage thing … nobody likes to admit they use FrontPage. Among webfolk, such an admission just invites sneers. Check out the group web-design@topica.com. I read it every day, and FrontPage is sort of the Barney of web tools. Never mind that it’s also the easiest to use, especially for beginners.

Microsoft Breakup, Part Two Electric Boogaloo
You know, I’m not sure about that whole Microsoft deal. I’m really not sure I even care. Everyone has an opinion about it, everyone is straining to say stuff no one has thought of yet. Bottom line: Now we can get screwed from two directions.

PHP/MySQL Tutorial
Oh yeah, I forgot to post this PHP tutorial: PHP/MySQL Tutorial from Webmonkey. I’m sure you’d eventually have found it yourself, but I thought I better pop it in here.

PHP
I’ve been trying to learn PHP. I’m not doing so very well. I’m also having trouble with the linux box, which is making it very hard. I’m not sure if the hard disk is failing (I just reinstalled), or if the whole machine is just a piece of shit. I can tell you this, with four computers running in this little room, it gets hot.

Microsoft Breakup – A Cold Day In Hell
Well, Microsoft has been ordered to break in two. I don’t know what good their method is going to do. (One op sys company and on applications company.) I think this will simply make it two companies working together to dominate the market instead of one.

Fight the Fingerprint!
Fight the Fingerprint! a networking group is opposed to using fingerprints as a method of identification. They make a compelling argument against it. It’s significant due to the trend to moving to fingerprint authentication for networks, operating systems, and signing encryption. Keep your eyes peeled on this technology and the privacy implications for the future.

The CGI Resource Index
The CGI Resource Index: Programs and Scripts is a great resource of CGI and Perl scripts. Rich was mentioning on his page that he’s getting tired of writing every little thing by hand. He did too, java apps, guestbooks, even javascript for rollovers and stuff. What the hell? Why reinvent the wheel.
