Despite the fact that he was convicted in previous crimes and acquitted of others, he is innocent.
The DNA evidence (rape kit? clothing?) that would eventually clear him, was thought lost. Or, so say prosecutors. The evidence “surfaced” when a pipe burst in the room which it was housed.
Interesting that more and more people are being let out of prison, innocent. What debt does society, the state in which they were accused and convicted, and the legal system that failed them.. what debt do we owe people such as this? With time taken from their lives, with personal relationships ruined, not to mention lives of children involved, what sacrifice do we owe these people? Any?
Better yet, how many innocent people are wrongfully serving sentences for crimes they did not commit, learning to become criminals? How many are sitting on death row?
