Bush Admin Trying to Shake Arrogant Image

A lot of people ask me why I dislike “the incumbent” so acutely.

I remember back in late 1999, I was watching C-Span. They were covering the early parts of the election. I saw this slightly odd looking fellow swaggering about in front of a podium, he was talking with a slight drawl and he was using a lot of “me,” “mine,” and “I”‘s in his speech. He was talking about himself as if he could hardly contain his affection for himself and his own greatness. The audience apparently agreed. At first I thought he was talking about someone else but, I realized that this arrogant, privileged, and obviously under-qualified man was talking about himself. He simply didn’t have an air executive quality and leadership. He had the same air of quality as a drunken frathouse ass grabber that so many companies are trying to usher out of their ranks right now.

Not having even laid eyes on GeeDubbya, I didn’t have a clue as to what he was about or, even what he looked like. Like most of the country, I knew that Texas put a lot of bad guys on the chair. That was about it. I remember being shocked and saying to myself, “This is George Bush Jr.!? Wow, are we in trouble.” Anyway, where were P.R. experts then? Well, you elected “Brand Bush” you deal with it, I guess:

…an independent taskforce reported that even the country’s allies saw the US as “arrogant”, “hypocritical” and “self-absorbed.”

Yep, pretty much fits the guy in power too. What do you expect? Attentiveness? Concern? Compassion?

Don’t hold your breath.
