Bush enacting ‘faith-based’ plan for contractors.
“President Bush is enacting by executive fiat key pieces of his divisive “faith-based initiative,” including one that lets federal contractors use religious favoritism in their hiring.”
Oh, don’t misread the articles interpretation… it doesn’t just “let” them use non-profit and religious orgs, it requires them to use them. If you aren’t a christian, very effectively, you will be forced through taxation to support organizations and religions that you don’t believe in.
I wonder if that includes Muslim, Hindu, Buddism, etc… In fact, since I’m an self-proclaimed “Apathist,” I should found my own church and start replying to the RFP’s (request for proposals) and nail down a fat gov’t contract.
Blurring the lines between church and state is a sad mistake. Our founding fathers learned this hard lesson and made provisions to prevent it from happening again.
Although faith-based initiatives could be viewed as honorable in intention, in practice it’s been known to be a failure.
This measure of treachery is not good, it’s not fair, and you can do something to stop it.
