I just watched Air Force One fly over my house. Apparently, they parked it in Flint. Sounded loud and whiny… Well, that’s a lot of presidents I’ve been around or, at least near. Carter, Bush Sr., Clinton, and Jr.
Once, while stationed in Korea we were ordered to prepare for an inspection by then vice president, Bush Sr. We were in the middle of a pretty bad hot and dry spell and the grass was all brown and dead. Much like it is now. While painting rocks white with my squad, the First Sergeant ordered us to also acquire suitably green paint and paint the grass green as well. We found some of the green type of RADAR scattering paint used on vehicles and used that. Well, there we were rolling out the green paint onto the dead, brown grass. Of course, the entirety of the stupidity of what I was doing was so apparently obvious and painful… I could hardly stand it and still can’t. I wonder how much that paint cost per gallon.
Bush never showed up but, a cat did walk in the green paint and track it all over hells creation. There were little green kitty prints everywhere, right up to my last day at the place. I bet they are still there.
Anyway, that was the day I decided to get out of the Army at all costs. I’m sure you understand. It took me another 3 years to do it but, I managed somehow.
