Dean’s Homepage Dean’s homepage Is Dead
Dean’s Homepage Dean’s homepage is moving up in the world. I noticed some strange guy with a frying pan on his page linked to this site through his exit gallery. If that doesn’t make you famous, I don’t know what does.

I’ll third the dead thing!
I’ll third the dead thing! It’s always fun getting a new toy and it sounds like 3 for the price of 1. So which did come first? The chicken or the egg?

My Dreamweaver UltraDev
My Dreamweaver UltraDev shipped today, it shipped with a copy of Cold Fusion Enterprise Server and IBM Websphere Application Server. Now, I need to install Windows NT on one of these junk pentium 100’s that I have here, that doesn’t have a CD-ROM… problems, problems. I just got a Caldera machine running Apache I’m having trouble getting PHP to build, sheesh. That’ll make 5 machines running here at Paxtonland. My neighbors think I’m crazy, my family knows I am. I am looking forward to trying ASP with this. It’s got to be better than visual interdev, which wouldn’t even properly…

Pimpwars
Pimpwar – The online pimping game is about to start up again. I participated in the beta a few months back, also in the current 1st. game. I won’t tell you who I am, but I will tell you that I’m in the top 2% of 5,000+. This is a terribly socially irresponsible, yet extremely amusing turn based game. The new game is set to start soon and it is first come, first serve sign up. So if you wanna play, check daily starting on the 14th.

Memories…
Memories……what a trip. Was in basic training 22 years ago and haven’t thought of my asigned name since then. I wore the groovy oversized, darken when needed glasses back then (oh those late 70’s were cruel). Of course one look at those on my face and the D.I. promptly gave me the name of Elton John. Everyone in the squad called and knew me as John from that point on. Thanks Dean!

Names
Gary and I were talking about names. It seems that everyone has to either shorten, lengthen, or convolute your name somehow. They simply can’t stick to your given name, they have to give themselves ownership of it by changing it somehow. Strange. I remember it being said about boot camp, in order to fully to control a person, the first thing you take away is thier identity. So, you never are never called by your name outside roll calls. Even then, it is your last name. The rest of the time… well, lets just say that they call you a…

Well they were very good.
Well they were very good. They didn’t play an awful long time and they didn’t do a lot of the old stuff. Michael tells me that they are breaking up after this tour and that Robert Smith is going out on his own. hrmmmm.

OK….silly me. “I didn’t know
OK….silly me. “I didn’t know that you could use a < li >”. I guess that proves that. Also should read “An < html > document inside an < html > document”….

The Cure
Dean, you had a perfect evening to see The Cure at the “Nob”. I saw them with the Pixies at the Palace a long time ago. We stuck it out yesterday at Michigan Speedway until the rain stopped the

Fusinski.com
Fusinski.com: The World’s Most Useful Web Site has been updated again. There you’ll find some very good perl/cgi information. Also, Rich is a damn good overall programmer. I’d imagine that he could suggest a few books or sites, he has for me. Since he’s redesigned his page… he’s updating it frequently. Together someday, he and I will rule the world. Just you wait and see.

Greasy Skillet
My friend Dave at GREASY SKILLET, is experimenting with audio journal entries. I love the idea. You need quicktime 4 to listen, however. There are a lot of wonderful uses for something like this… makes one think. Quicktime is really starting to kick ass.

Dean, I came across this
Dean, I came across this the other day. Remember that I don’t have access to Access or any other DB? I have been thinking of doing this, what do you think? It’s called SQL Fun. SQL Fun I also followed the link to Trevor Lees’ home page for the detailed instructions. Instructions I’d like your opinion as to whether or not I should do this. Thanks…..Joe

Glen Davis’ Project Cool
Glen Davis was the spearhead of Project Cool. He resigned from the effort about 2 months ago. So, I’m not sure that the site will continue it’s current quality without him. I think that remains to be seen.
-
Oh, I see it (Blogger)
Oh, I see it (Blogger) installs the post as a blockquote. Cool. Speaking of cool, I do like to hang out at Project Cool. I did see that you’ve been there too Dean. I like their color picking page. Choosing A Color It takes allot of the guess work out.Have a great day….

Joe, you did okay, but
Joe, you did okay, but my tags ruled out yours.. .haha. As for the “edit” button. When you are at the blogger entry page. You can edit your posts, but if you are at the main page (where everyone sees them) you can’t edit them. With that “edit” button, you can go in and fix your stuff…
-
Note On Tags
You don’t have to include the “header, style, or html tags. But, everything else is okay.

Misc. II
Sorry Dean, I changed all of the links with my last post. It was all HTML. I clicked on the “view web page” and it was not kind. Looks like the “edit” is still there too. Since all of the links were changed (and after looking at the “web page”), I take it that the head, title, and body tags are not necessary? The post came out nice and centered and the event takes place with the link though. I through the page up on my server. It’s here Here it is.
-
Misc
Okay, I thought I’d see what is possible here. I’ve got a question regarding tags. Do the editors capitalize the tags? It seems like every page source that I’ve viewed that was made with an editor has the tags in caps. Is that the default for editors? I’ve read that with XML all tags have to be in lower case. Is that right? Personally I write all tags in lower case anyway. HTML 2.0, 3.2 and 4.0 is so forgiving. Follow this link for a very interesting site I came across some time ago. It contains a ton of information…

XHTML
Probably XHTML to stop confusing the poor business types who can’t keep track of all the new stuff. All they really need to know is that XML is extensible and HTML isn’t sortof .
